Hanjeli, dapatkah menggantikan beras

Sebagian petani di desa Sukarasa kecamatan Darma Kab. Kuningan enggan menanam padi, lebih manyukai menanam hanjeli. Tindakan itu disebabkan harga gabah pada saat ini sedang anjlok di pasaran. Justru harga hanjeli relatif lebih stabil dibanding harga gabah. Harga gabah kering dari tangan petani sekira Rp. 1.200 sampai Rp. 1.500/Kg, sedangkan hanjeli mentah harganya Rp.1.500/kg, setelah diproses menjadi bubur hanjeli seharga Rp.3.000/Kg. Harga hanjeli yang menggiurkan itu membuat para petani desa Sukarasa meninggalkan padi. Menurut keterangan Hj. Inoh (54) seorang petani sekaligus penampung hanjeli di desa Sukarasa saat ditemui. Hanjeli merupakan makanan pokok alternatif setelah beras, jagung dan gandum.
